Most of the mothers gets the baby blues during pregnancy. These are hormonal changes that can cause anxieties, crying and restlessness that goes away within the first two weeks after giving the birth of the child. It is also called postpartum blues, the baby blues are actually a mild and temporary forms of depression that goes away once the hormones levels out.
Postpartum depression are also called postnatal depression. It is a type of mood disorders associated with childbirth which can affect both the sexes. Symptoms may include extreme sadness, low energy, and anxiety, crying episodes, irritability and changes in sleeping or eating patterns. Lack of interest in the baby or feeling anxious around of for baby
Thoughts of hurting the baby or feeling like not to take care of baby.
Hormone changes that happen after the birth may causes the baby blues. After delivery the amount of the hormones estrogen and progesterone suddenly decreases, causing mood swings. For some people, the hormones made by the thyroid glands may drop sharply, which can make them feel tired and depressed.
There’s not a single cause for the postpartum depression, but these physical and emotional issues that may contribute are hormones. The dramatic drop in estrogen and progesterone after the birth of the child may play a sharp and vital role. Other hormones produces by the thyroid glands also may drop sharply and make the feelings tires, sluggish and depressed.
